Author Daniel Jose Older's collection of short stories introduces readers to a world filled with ghosts. These ghosts are sometimes benign and sometimes deadly, but they are always entertaining.
Older has a wonderful way with words and specializes in tales with protagonists of color, particularly a half-dead Puerto Rican, as well as ones describing the fall out from slavery in the United States. The cultural differences described in the stories are fascinating, especially in regards to the old story teller in Older's world.
